Miha Batič

Miha is following in the footsteps of his family who owned the estate for many generations. He is, very distinctively, finding his own style, though. His cellar is like a huge cathedral, and he, in his open, communicative and highly convincing character, is the priest. Things are different in Miha Batič' world - so he also is the winemaker with the peacock. Literally: if you ever get to visit him, try to find the peacock outside the estate.
The personality

Miha doesn't think of wines as white or red - rather as calming or up-lifting. Yet, we believe he produces some of the most inspiring red wines in Slovenia.

His thoughts

„Wine should not be created, it should be the reflection of the vine plant, the sky and soil. To reach an outstanding wine is not self-sufficient, it includes a lot of human effort, working with hands and requires a lot of patience. I don’t divide the wine in red or white or macerated or not. The wine I drink makes me either want to sit down or it lifts me up.“
